Focused trauma counseling when weekly therapy doesn’t fit your schedule.
Sometimes, understanding what happened isn’t enough to change how an experience continues to affect you. You may recognize the patterns, understand where they came from, and still feel their impact in your body, relationships, work, or sense of safety.
EMDR intensives offer dedicated time to focus on experiences that continue to affect your life, without the constraints of a traditional 50-minute therapy session. Whether you choose a three-hour session in one day or a seven-hour intensive that is spread across two days, treatment is tailored to your history, readiness, and goals.
You don’t have to be in ongoing weekly therapy to explore this option. Intensives can also complement the work you’re already doing with another therapist.

Why an intensive?
A traditional therapy hour can be useful, but it also requires time to arrive, settle in, begin meaningful work, and prepare to stop. For some people, longer sessions create enough space to move from preparation into reprocessing without repeatedly interrupting the work just as it gains momentum.
An intensive is not rushed therapy. It is focused therapy with more time for careful preparation, sustained processing, breaks, regulation, and thoughtful closure.
Focused 3-Hour EMDR Intensive | $950
For clients who would benefit from concentrated EMDR treatment but may not want or need a full seven-hour intensive, a three-hour option is available.
This shorter format offers dedicated time to work on a specific concern, distressing experience, or recurring trigger. It may be particularly well suited for individuals already engaged in therapy who would benefit from focused trauma processing as an adjunct to their ongoing care.
The most appropriate format is determined collaboratively based on your treatment goals, history, and clinical needs. A complimentary 20-minute consultation is available to answer any questions and ensure an intensive is a good fit.
The signature intensive| $2000
The signature format provides seven hours of focused treatment across two mornings in the same week. This format offers space for your mind and body to rest, integrate the work, and notice what begins to shift. Typically, Intensives are scheduled for Tuesday/Thursday but select weekends are also available.
Day 1: Four-hour intensive session
We begin by confirming your treatment goals and readiness, then move through preparation, resourcing, and EMDR processing at a pace tailored to you. Grounding, appropriate breaks, and deliberate closure are built into the session.
Day 2: Three-hour intensive session
We reevaluate what has changed, continue processing the identified target, strengthen more adaptive beliefs, and make space for integration, stabilization, and closure.
Fee: $2,000
The fee covers the complete two-day intensive package. A $500 reservation payment secures both treatment dates and is applied toward the total fee. The remaining balance is due seven days before the intensive begins.
What we may work on
- Childhood experiences or family dynamics that continue to affect how you feel, relate, or respond today
- A single distressing event, accident, assault, loss, or medical experience
- Trauma connected to a high-stress profession
- Moral injury, guilt, or a decision that continues to feel unresolved
- A recurring trigger, fear, or negative belief rooted in earlier experiences
- Long-standing patterns involving self-worth, safety, trust, relationships, or feeling “not enough”
- Accumulated experiences that have begun to affect work, relationships, or overall well-being
What an intensive can and cannot promise
Many people choose an intensive because they want meaningful movement in a concentrated period. No ethical clinician can promise that a particular memory will reach a specific distress level within a fixed number of hours. The package provides enough structure and time to pursue the work thoroughly while remaining responsive to your nervous system, your history, and what emerges.
If the original target resolves before the scheduled work is complete, we use the remaining clinical time intentionally—for integration, strengthening new beliefs, future rehearsal, or another appropriate target that we have agreed upon. We do not manufacture more trauma work simply to fill time.
Who may be a good fit
- You can identify a concern or pattern you genuinely want to address.
- You are stable enough for focused trauma work and can use support between sessions if needed.
- You want an alternative to open-ended weekly therapy or want focused work alongside an existing therapist.
- You understand that an intensive is active treatment, not a retreat, quick fix, or guaranteed cure.
When another level of care may be better
An intensive may not be appropriate during an acute mental health crisis, uncontrolled substance use, active safety concerns, severe instability, or when a higher level of support is needed. The consultation and preparation process are used to determine fit. If this format is not appropriate, I will be direct about that.
Working with your current therapist
You do not necessarily need to end an existing therapy relationship to complete an intensive. With your written permission, I can coordinate with your current therapist so that the intensive supports your ongoing care. Roles, records, emergencies, and follow-up responsibilities will be clarified before treatment begins.

Your EMDR Intensive Clinician
I’m Kelly Baez, LPC, CFRC, a licensed trauma counselor with more than 20 years of clinical experience and advanced training in EMDR therapy.
My work focuses on helping adults process difficult experiences, including childhood trauma, complex trauma, sexual assault, medical trauma, and experiences connected to high-stress professions.
My approach combines evidence-based trauma treatment with careful attention to nervous system regulation, readiness, and self-compassion. I believe effective trauma work should be collaborative and responsive, not something clients are pushed through simply because time has been reserved.
I offer virtual EMDR intensives to eligible adults in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
Frequently asked questions
Will insurance pay for an intensive?
Most insurance plans do not cover the full cost or structure of EMDR intensives. Intensives are offered as a private-pay service. Upon request, I can provide appropriate documentation for you to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, but reimbursement is not guaranteed.
Can I do an EMDR intensive while continuing with my regular therapist?
Yes. EMDR intensives can complement ongoing therapy. With your written permission, I can coordinate with your current therapist to focus on a specific trauma, distressing experience, or recurring pattern while you maintain your established therapeutic relationship.
Do I have to talk about every detail?
No. EMDR does not require you to narrate every detail of an experience. We need enough information to plan safely and effectively, but you remain in control of what you disclose.
Can EMDR intensives help with childhood trauma?
EMDR intensives may be appropriate for adults experiencing the lasting effects of childhood trauma, including difficulties with self-worth, trust, emotional safety, or relationships. Treatment is individualized, and complex trauma may require additional preparation or ongoing therapy beyond the intensive.
What can we accomplish in seven hours?
Seven hours of focused work can create significant and meaningful progress. The extended sessions give us room to prepare, work with a defined target, and build on what emerges between sessions. While I cannot guarantee complete resolution or predict exactly what will shift for you, we will use the time purposefully, close each session carefully, and discuss the best next step if you find you want to continue—including another intensive or ongoing therapy.
Are virtual EMDR intensives available in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina?
Yes. Kelly Baez, LPC, provides virtual EMDR intensives to eligible adults physically located in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. The intensive includes seven hours of treatment over two mornings: typically Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon, Eastern Time.
How much does a virtual EMDR intensive cost?
The complete seven-hour EMDR intensive costs $2,000. A $500 reservation payment secures the treatment dates and is applied toward the total. The remaining $1,500 is due seven days before the intensive begins. A complimentary 20-minute consultation is available to discuss whether the format may be a good fit.
