Kelly Baez, PhD, LPC

Trauma Recovery Specialist

Individual

Individual sessions are typically EMDR, especially if we are processing trauma. That said, sometimes you just need to talk. If that’s the case, we can do that! I am experienced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), just to name a few. Your healing journey is driven by you and you get to decide the best course of action.

When you’re ready to feel better fast, consider Individual Intensives

Just as EMDR is a very different approach to psychotherapy, the Intensive is a very different approach to providing EMDR treatment.  Because of the “rewiring” and  repairing effect of EMDR, an Intensive can work in ways that are not possible utilizing standard talk-therapy techniques.  With EMDR processing, we can desensitize negative feelings and change the negative belief about self that has been encoded onto the memory in order to “rewire” the brain so you can feel relief.  This means much more material can be processed and repaired much more quickly in an Intensive session than is possible in traditional weekly therapy.

Why take months, when it can take days?

An Individual Intensive is usually 4 – 6 hour sessions for 1 – 3 consecutive days.  Rather than processing on a weekly basis for an extended period of time, you  can often work through many issues intensively and fast track the healing and relief you seek as you look to move forward with your life.  Please keep in mind it is called an intensive for a reason. The work is INTENSE, but so is the healing!

If you are interested in exploring the idea of an Individual Intensive, please contact me to schedule an intake session and I will help you decide if an Intensive is right for you.

Already have a counselor you like? No problem!

In some cases, Intensives can be utilized to work on very specific parts of your history (i.e. preverbal trauma, or something specific like a car accident) and after the Intensive you return to the care of your weekly therapist.  If you currently have a therapist, please feel free to discuss this option with them. I am happy to discuss collaborative work with your written consent.
